Refugee camps, often hastily constructed, can lack basic amenities, leaving families exposed to harsh environmental conditions. This summer, temperatures inside the tents where many of these families live soared above 40 degrees Celsius. The situation became so dire that many people wereforced to sleep outside at night, risking their health in a bid to escape the oppressive heat. The conditions posed significant health risks, particularly for the most vulnerable members of thesecommunities—women, children, and the elderly. Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heatstroke became real threats, adding to the already challenging circumstances these families face daily. Recognizing the urgent need to provide some form of relief, our Women Center launched a summer campaign aimed at distributing fans to as many families as possible. These fans, though a small gesture, made a substantial difference in the day-to-day lives of those who received them. By circulating air and lowering the ambient temperature within the tents, the fans helped to mitigate the severe heat, making living conditions slightly more bearable. Our team worked tirelessly throughout the summer, coordinating the distribution of these fans across the refugee camp. Despite limited resources, we were able to reach over 153 families, offering them a simple but effective tool to combat the oppressive heat. Many families expressed their deep gratitude, sharing stories of how the fans allowed

them to sleep more comfortably at night and reduce the stress that the heat had been causing. The

summer of 2024 was a challenging one, but it also demonstrated the power of community,

solidarity, and compassion. Together, we made a difference, one fan at a time.
